Triple Mountain Card

 

Hi Today I have a card that can be a little difficult to figure out but once you put this card together you will love the elegance of this design.  Here is a picture of the card I made with some of the most utilized dies and stamps in my collection.  I purchase the "Thoughtful Journey Suite Collection" pg 47 of the new 2024 - 2025 Catalog. I think nearly every card I have done since then has had me pull out these Dies or Stamps.  The DSP's are so beautiful in this bundle.  

So lets get started. For this card I started by picking out a print from the Thoughtful Journey  6" x 6" Designer Series paper and then picked out 2 colors of cardstock, I wanted to do double matting for this card.  I choose Wild Wheat and Petunia Pop.  If you don't know this, every DSP comes with a label on it telling you what colors coordinate with the prints in the set, you can also find this information on the website under show more.  Sorry its not so clear but you can use the link to see this information.

So once you pick the print you want to use ityou can determine which of the listed colors to use.

Once you have your paper picked out you need to cut the base color for the card. 

8 1/2" x 5 1/2" I chose the Wild Wheat as my base card.

Score on the long side at 1",  2 1/4", 3 1/8" and 4 1/4"

Fold and burnish your score lines, then measuring up from the bottom of the card, draw a straight line from the left edge to the 1" score line.  Then starting from the bottom again measure 4 1/2" and draw a straight line between score line 2 (2 1/4") and 3 (3 1/8").   Now draw an angle line from score line 1 to 2 (2 1/4") and the from score line 3 (3 1/8") to 4. See example below.

At this point cut at hand drawn line. (orange line on drawing)

Now fold your card base in half at the 4 1/4" score. Then forward at the next score line, doing a Zfold of the other score lines.

Next step is to cut 2 more pieces of Wild Wheat Cardstock, 1 at  2 ¼ “ x 3 ½ “ and 1 at 3 ¾ “ x 4 ½ “.  These get attached to first and second fold creating your three layers of the card.

Once they are mounted you need to cut the Petunia Pop cardstock and attach to create your layers. Front 2 1/8” x 3 3/8”,  Middle  3 5/8” x 4 3/8”,  Back Section 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”.  

Keep referring back to original card Photos to see that your doing it right.

Now cut your DSP to these measurements and layer on the card. 

 DSP:   Front 2” x 3 ¼”,   Middle  3 ½” x 4 ¼”,  Back section 4' x 5 ¼”   

Once you attach these pieces then its time to decorate your layers.    

I used the one of the flower stems from the "Thoughtful Wishes Dies" for my flowers.

  I cut the stems from Stampin Up White cardstock and then using blending brushes and Mossy Meadow and Petunia pop Stamp pads I colored the stems and flowers. I used same process to color the Butterflies from the Sketched Butterflies Bundle.  Then using "Unbounded Love Dies"

Thoughtful Expressions Dies I cut mats for my sentiments that came from the  Stamps Comforting Thoughts.

Floating Diamond Card

Fold and burnish the center fold then reverse fold the left side outside edge back so that only the left half of the card is covered.                                                                     

When cutting and adding DSP be aware of directional paper, you don’t want daisies growing from the sky.

Support Piece –Cut 4” x 2”- Scored at 1”, 2” and 3”

Fold all score lines to the inside creating a flat box. 

Mount tear & tape to end flaps (see example)

Mark card base at 1.5” from top edge on center (5” fold) 

With outside 2 flaps folded in on themselves, line up at center score on top of card base center score where you marked it, be sure to match center lines (if this isn’t perfect your card will not fold correctly).

Once you know where it is going removed tear & tape wax on both flaps.

Then very carefully mount to card matching center lines, be sure both the top and bottom of support piece is lined up on score line. 

Once the base pieces are put together you will want to start mounting the Diamonds. 

When mounting Diamonds you need to be sure you are adding glue to the correct side, only half of each diamond will require glue.

Mat your card as you choose, double matting is always very elegant but a beautiful DSP on back 

 

Now you need to mount the support piece lining it up so that both the top and bottom of the center score of the support piece lines up exactly with the card center score. 

  Attach the diamonds to the left side of card matching the points on the left side score line and have the touch at the point.  Only apply adhesive to the left side of the diamond.  Close the card and verify the center diamond lines up then mount to the support piece, again being careful not to put adhesive where its not needed.  I love Tear & Tape for projects like this

Another Step Card

 Step Cards are my favorite to construct because of their versatility and because its fun way to use up Odds and ends of DSP Scraps.

For this card I started with A piece of cardstock (Petunia Pop) 8" x 5-1/2". 

Score this piece at 1" at 2" and 5".  Mountain fold at 1" score then create V fold at 2" and mountain again at 5" score.

I then took a second piece of cardstock (Petunia Pop) 8-1/2" x 3". I used a leftover piece from different cardstock but you can make this piece almost any width you would like depending how you want to decorate this focus piece.

Score this piece at 4-1/4" decorate as you choose I have provided my measurement for my mats below.  I choose to double mat mine. 

Next I cut DSP (Unbounded Love);

Front Step white mat measurement is 7/8" x 5-3/8" .   DSP mat 3/4" x 5-1/4".  

Inside section white mat is is 2-7/8" x 5-3/8".              DSP mat is 2-3/4" x 5-1/4"     

From here I am using the Stamps and Dies from Stampin up, Unbounded Love Stamp & Dies set I created the bushes that shoot out from center.  On the front I used Perennial Postage Dies to cut a piece of Summer splash and then white cardstock. Sentiment is from Stampin up, Wild Ferns.

I cut small flowers from Unbounded Love from (Peach Pie) cardstock. The Ribbon is basic white.

Below is another one like this one from Stampin Up  Perennial Lavender.

_{I started this card with half sheet of Stampin' Up! "Pretty Peacock" cardstock 5 ½ inch X 8} ½ inch.  

Then using this template, I created the Stair step card base.

 

STAMPIN' UP! DSP used is from the Bright & Beautiful 6” x 6” paper. 

Cut 4 pieces of DSP;

Part A DSP    1 ¾ “ x 3”

Part B DSP    5 1/8” x ¾ “

Part C DSP    3 1/8” x ¾ “

Part D DSP    3 1/8” x 1 ¾ “

Attach these pieces to card base and embellish as my example or use your imagination and make it your design.
